Living in Amsterdam

From what I have been reading, living in Amsterdam would be quite different than here in the States.

Legal gay marriage and legal soft drugs would be the obvious big differences.

I also read that the elderly are not respected in the corporate world, so some people retire as early as age 50. And elderly people are well taken care of in comfortable old-age houses once they are unable to live on their own. If you are wealthy or not, everyone gets equal treatment. Equal treatment! The same applies for healthcare over there. They have a universal healthcare system.

Apparently the Dutch are thought of as stingy, which is news to me. But this supposedly stems from the fact that they do not like to waste things - food and money included. Sounds like my kind of people!

  3. Hi,
Did you ever make it to Amsterdam? It’s something I know I want but I don’t know the first thing about it, i.e. how to find a job, place to live, immigration rules etc..
Do you have any words of wisdom for me??
